• For students aged 6 years and up, lessons are available on piano, violin, cello, and recorder.

  • Flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, and trombone are offered to students beginning at age 10.  Because of the necessary dental development, and since these instruments do not come in smaller sizes for smaller children, in most cases it is not appropriate to start at a younger age.

  • Piccolo, bass clarinet and other harmony clarinets, oboe, tenor saxophone, and baritone saxophone are offered to interested students older than 12 when their skills and size allow.  Prior experience within the same instrument family is strongly recommended. Piccolo players must also continue flute instruction, and bass/harmony clarinet players must also continue clarinet instruction.

  • Families who need assistance finding an instrument to rent or purchase should contact Jessica directly. She is happy to look over your instrument before your lesson if it has recently been removed from storage or purchased used.

  • The standard lesson time is 30 minutes.

  • A single lesson can be booked for the price of $45.

  • One month of lessons - 4 lessons at the same time and on the same day for four weeks in a row (holidays excluded) - can be booked at the reduced rate of $40/lesson, $160 in total.

  • One 10-week term of lessons - Fall Term, Winter Term, Spring Term, or Summer Term - can be booked as a package with an additional level of savings; $36/lesson, $360 in total.

  • Students who prefer a longer lesson time, or who need to work out an alternate schedule, are asked to contact Jessica directly to discuss options.

  • At this time, Our Music Teacher is able to accept payment at the office by cash and check, and Jessica uses Wave electronic invoicing to process credit cards.

The Fine Print

Attendance: Lessons are offered in person at my Dover, NH office or remotely via FaceTime, GoogleMeet, or Zoom. Students may elect to attend either in person or remotely, and may switch modes of attendance at any time and for any reason. Please plan to attend remotely or reschedule if either you or I are feeling unwell or have a known Covid-19 exposure. Masking is required for in person lessons.

Make-up lessons for conflicts and sick days:  Years of experience have shown me that make-up lessons, generally speaking, don't work - and sticking to a schedule does.  When you miss your lesson, it is just that; a missed lesson.  Please ask about my office hours, if you have missed a lesson you are welcome to come by for a visit to ask any questions you might have or get help/feedback on your work.  You are also welcome to check in by email.  In most situations, a missed lesson will not be rescheduled to another time *unless* advanced notice is given *and* schedules align for the lesson to be given at another time in the same week.  The major exception: If I need to cancel your lesson due to my own sickness or unforeseen circumstances, it will always be rescheduled.

Snow days and other inclement weather:  Nobody can be certain when weather will come or how it will affect us.  It is my preference not to cancel due to weather, however, we will if there is a loss of electricity. Students are encouraged to attend remotely in the case of inclement weather but if you need to reschedule please contact me.  Refunds for snow days will not be given; I will make every reasonable effort to offer an alternate date and time for lessons missed due to weather, generally within the week.

Office hours:  Office hours will be held by appointment.  Office hours are for student assistance, student and parent questions, and administrative tasks.  If I happen to be occupied, please knock to let me know that you are there.  I am also available by appointment, email, and phone/text.

Stopping lessons: You are not committed to anything beyond the lessons you have booked and paid for; however, please do consider yourself committed to the lessons you have scheduled at the days and times that you have chosen.  For single lessons and four lesson packages, refunds will not be considered, but with advance notice, the schedule can be adjusted.  For ten lesson packages, in the case of unforeseen circumstances such as sudden illness or job loss, please discuss your needs with me as soon as you are able so we can come to an amenable agreement.

Please understand that these policies are basic guidelines, and may be revised as necessary.
